  • Off the coast of perak state, north of Selangor, lies a cluster of fabulous islands with unquestionably some of the best coves and beaches on the western coast peninsular Malaysia. Among them, two islands predominate in terms of accessibility, infrastructure and development - the largest island, Pulau Pangkor and her sister Pangkor Laut.

 When To Go Pangkor

  • Althought November to February is the monsoon season, Pangkor Island generally escapes the worst of the wet and squally weather. So, its not a problem to visit Pangkor during the this rainy seasoon because Pulau Pangkor, a perfect island that's far away from the monsoon doldrums. For the rest of the year, its quite dry but very humid. Temperatures average balmy 32°C or 90°F.


How to Get to Pangkor

If you need a direct transfer from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT)/KLIA2, arrangements could be made for a SEDAN or MPV car to take you to the coastal town of Lumut  or Marina Island Pangkor Jetty where you would be able to catch a ferry to Pangkor Island or Pangkor Laut Resort. Booking in advance now!!

By Car
Lumut jetty is an entry point to beautiful Pangkor Island Malaysia. If you are travel from Kuala Lumpur city of Malaysia by car the journey is approximately 270km and take around 4 hours. Take the North South Express Highway, starting at the Damansara toll plaza, heading toward Ipoh. After 3 hours drive journey you should exit at the the Bidor toll plaza where the toll charges are approximately RM17.60/car.

The journey from Bidor town to Lumut jetty is approximately 110km. Remember to follow signboards on you left hand side that stating TELUK INTAN, SITIAWAN and PULAU PANGKOR. Take another 1 and half hours drive later, you will see a attractive seaview at Lumut jetty. Find out more from Google Map.

Just park your car nearby Lumut Jetty with a nominal fee of RM10 a day for overnight parking.

By Bus
The whole day there are busses available for the 5 hours journey to Lumut. AAs bus from Puduraya Bus Station, Kuala Lumpur leaves almost every 15 minutes at daytime and in the evenings slightly less frequent. The most frequent services are by Transnasional, Sri Maju and Plusliner. Remember, there is NO need to get a bus first to Ipoh and change there. We have reports of scammers at Puduraya who try to lure you in this. The journey through Ipoh and change bus there can then take anything up to 8 hours instead of the 4 to 5 hours normal.

Lumut is a small town, basically a one street town. On the main street, there are local shops, restaurants, banks, a few bars and some of the hotels. There is a small tourist market in the new ferry building.

Noted: Tourist Information Centre which is located just across the road of the new ferry building next to the Pangkor Laut office.





Ferry to Pangkor



From Lumut Jetty, Pangkor ferries depart regularly to different parts of Pangkor Island. A single fare in one way is RM5.00/person. (Two way RM10.00)

Fisrt departure from Lumut is at 7am, last at 8.30pm.

First departure from Pangkor is at 6.30am, last at 8.30pm.

Departure are at 30~45 Minutes interval, depending on the time of day, and the crossing usually takes no more than 45 minutes.

There are two major ferry stops for the residents in Pulau Pangkor, Malaysia; the SPK Jetty in Sungai Pinang Kecil and the Pangkor Jetty in Pangkor Town. Tourists should stop by the Pangkor Jetty, as this is the main tourism township in Pulau Pangkor and is closer to the various beaches on the west coast of the island.
